Apple is reportedly working on "HealthBook" for iOS8

Apple is reportedly coming up with a Health App being called "HealthBook".

Steve jobs wanted apple to revolutionize 3 areas :  TV, Photography and text books. It seems that apple is now planning to step into health area as well. Apple recently hired Michael O'Reilly . Before joinng Apple O'Reilly was chief medical officer and executive vice president of medical affairs at pulse oximeter firm Masimo Corporation. He can be a key player in building such a technology.

Sources close to apple said that apple CEo met with FDA to discuss "Health apps on mobile". The result of meeting is largely unknown. but they might have discussed tracking health data and various other metrics of mobile device users.

Healthbook app would be able to track walking steps, body temperature, blood pressure and even suger levels. Apple's current iPhone hardware M7 motion processor supports step tracking and distance covered but fails in measuring other body functionalities. These capabilities can be build in next apple hardware or apple may use some companion device similar to samsung galaxy gear. This relates to previous rumor of apple coming with something called iWatch. iWatch will be similar to galaxy gear by samsung and will present health data is swipe-able fashion.

There are multiple other health apps and hardwares are present for measuring metrics like steps or Sugar level. but this can be 1st effort from any mobile manufactoring giant, which brings all hardware and software into one device, your own Phone.
